I Emailed Billmans today asking for lead times, transport/supply outlets & payment on an 18 incher & this was the reply.

Hi Michael,

We do not have any camp ovens in stock at the moment and we are looking at 6-8 weeks lead time.

Payment can be made by posting a cheque or EFT.

Our camp ovens are sold direct from our factory here in Castlemaine, transport may be a problem because of the weight of the 18" being approx 30kg.  If you wish to order a pallet load, we can wrap them on a pallet and get to Sydney for approx $280 using our transport company, otherwise you will need to organise your own transport.

We have just had a price rise on our camp ovens the new prices are as follows;

Camp Ovens:
Cast Iron

9" (7.25kg)
$ 166.00

12" (11.25kg)
$ 199.00

15" (16.25kg)
$ 240.00

18" (30.00kg)
$ 305.00

Personalised Lids – extra
$ 35.00

Should you require any further information, please contact our office.

Kind regards

Wow, they are getting expensive when you consider that I only paid $280.00 delivered for my Cabela 20" from the States.

I agree PD, I'd still rather have an Aussie made CO,
Derek, is the Cabella's relativiley shallow like a typical "Dutch Oven"

The Cabela 20" is the same depth as the Furphy 15" at 5.5" whereas the Lodge is only 4" deep.

I have found though that in a shallow Lodge, bread tends to bake with a more even coloured crust.

The Cabelas ovens are made by Camp Chef.

Lodge does have what is called a Deep oven, ie a 10 Deep is about 5" deep.

As far as I know Camp Chef only has the 12" called Deep.  On the other hand their Lewis & Clark Commemorative & the Grizzly Bear ones are 'deep'.  I have a 9 1/3 qt. which is something like 12 3/8 in diameter and is 5" deep.

Undecided

PD

The commemorative Lewis and Clarke are the ones currently available here through Anaconda Stores.  Available in 10", 12" and 14".  The baby 5" one isn't available here yet in Australia.

PD

They have a sale every now and then with anything up to 30% off.  I usually get an email when they do so will post it up for the next sale.
