Went to smoke a few oysters in the shell and the trusty 'ol "Nipper Kipper Box" 22 year old is rusted out . I have seen heaps of them on line and it is obvious that a lot are copied in some way from another.

I do like the sounds of the following though and was wondering if anyone has some experience with them?
http://www.southern-metal-spinners.com.au/smoker_new.htm

I want to take it away with me so needs to be portable, any other suggestions would be appreciated. Smiley

All the best

I have had one ever since they came out.  Bill Thompson from SMS sent me one to try out.  Got to say that they are fantastic.  It doesn't get used as much as it should but being stainless it lasts.  Spent a week on Fraser a while back and it spent a lot of time smoking fresh tailor.

It's built on the same principle as the Camp Oven Mate with the four side sections sliding into each other.

Here is a pic of some smoked snapper steaks.

Very nice, Derek does the unit have one or two racks? If only one, could two be fitted?

Thanks Skip

No it was great.  Cooking time is about 8 minutes.  Just enough time for the metho burner to empty.

I've got a stainless steel version of the Kipper style box.
It works well.
They don't pack down like SMS.
Mine was a gift.
I think they are $60 plus..and as much as $80

I wonder if the circular design would provide a more even smoke than the rectangular kipper style design.

Huh

I have only ever used the SMS one.  Bill did make a modification to the metho burner after we ran a few tests on them and as far as I can tell they are pretty good.
