I am full as a goog. Finding it hard to type but here goes.

The finished roast.

The roast onion, jacket taties and a big wad of pumpkin (bloody horse tucker) for the missus.

And ready to eat with the trimmings.

"Sighhhhh", I think I need a poppy sleep now.

Verrrrrry interesting Robbo, I also copied the lid lifter/stand, found it a bit unstable so like you I  modified it using only rod but mine is different again. Also did a trivett to sit a pot on but used old horse shoes of which I have plenty. Will post pics as soon as I can, off on a trip for several days tomorrow.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

Looks spot on Robbo- nice to see someone still roasts a few onions with their meal. I love that.

Good job

Great shots Robbo and its looks a handy gadget, I would love to get my hands on one  Wink.

I always bake onions at least one for me anyway.  Even if you dont eat it the smell is lovely.  Some cook whole garlic corms but Sparky would leave home if I did that.

Well there's a bit of inginuity at it's best - & the old KISS method, well demonstrated.
It's amazing isn't, someone was more than likely sitt'in back enjoying their favourite beverage, pondering about - beverage - & how they could improve on - beverage-  with a simple - beverage- & whoops, I seem to be stuck on something here! Well tick tock's hit double figures so I guess there's no harm done.........................
Hooroo for now,
