Does anyone make a really good Campfire Curry. I had a Vindaloo the other night and boy it was so hot the 'ol gut was cramping up. I didn't let it beat me though I cleaned up the lot.

Thought I would put the feelers out for a few good brews for the "#### Hot Book" Smiley

Regards Skip

I love curry Skip
I use the paste that comes in a jar.
Ferns, Bolsts, to name a few brands.
Like it medium in spiciness.
Just follow the instructions on the label.
Always add a little potato towards the end so the curry has a gravy touch to it.  Starches it up.

Was working with a guy the other day and talking about this very subject.  Vindaloo is an European name for a hot curry.  Indians don't have such a thing.

He was telling me that to get that real authentic curry flavour you need to go to an Indian Grocer to get your curry herbs but be careful because the things can blow your head off.  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Do a Google search and there are heaps of recipes.  Had a chuckle at one as in the ingredients it had 5 to 15 dried chillis according to your taste.  Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

Idid an Indian cooking class about 6year ago , we had to make our own curries from scratch. Some curries can be made very hot by adding chillies , but most are just very spicey.
When i organise a curry night at home i will cook all Friday night doing the meat dishes , put in the fridge and leave till Saturday arvo and put in the oven and slow cook. The flavours are delicious.
Havn't tried any of these in a camp oven , but i think with it would work well.
On the subject of vindaloo i asked the Indian lady that taught the class about this and she said it is definatley not Indian.

That would be true but I would much rather eat a curry in wintertime and soup for that matter.
In Summer or hot weather I prefer seafood or steaks or something served with some nice cold salad including beetroot.
I like the creamy salads like potato and pasta and types like that.
For a hot meal we have a few roasts.
In fact we have a cold Chrissy dinner too.
