I got another email from the guy today.  He has posted a lot more information.

This is possibly a true antique from the 1800's.

Interesting, the last two ovens on eBay have gone for a combined total of over $1000.00. Tells me that good cast iron is appreciating. That 14" Sheldon was a one off and yer never likely to see one of them again, over 100 years old and never been used !

I still think people get a bit carried away with the auction side of it.  Still was a nice oven and above what I'm prepared to pay.  My miserable $300 bid got lost early in the piece.

I hope they enjoy it.

Seems there may be a serious collector out there.
