Just thought I would let whoever is interested know that I am heading up to Double Island this weekend for a few days of camping, fishing and of course, my 1st attempt at cooking in the new oven. I will be taking the camera, so there will be many photos taken, just let me know if you guys want any posted here.

Cool

About an hour and a half drive north of brissie. I sit a couple of k's under in the ol' Patrol on the highway, so probably a bit quicker for most.

It's already in the truck. We wouldn't get up there until Sunday night if I had to wait for her to pack AS WELL as get ready (we both know that takes an eternity).  Grin Grin Grin

Hetty would be on par mate.
My holidays usually start at least an hour before her.
I am in the truck and ready to go..where is she?  looking around dusting this and that, straightening a crooked curtain etc etc etc.

The rod was waaaay too heavy for the tiny dart we were catching. Layne used probably the best light surf outfit I've ever laid hands on, and managed to get a decent whiting amongst the dart.

Did you mark the spot or get the number of klms from 1st cutting so it's easy to find next time?
The beach access looks a dream.
Big flat  area to camp and cook on.

Top spot.

It was about 1klm south of the red sand hill. I spotted several whales for Layne, she was absolutely rapped. No hoons or idiots up there for once was nice. Just couldn't get onto the fish. I must admit, cookin in the oven was a buzz, feels like such an accomplishment once you dish something edible from it. Cannot believe how easy the Patrol makes things, after only having owned Suzukis beforehand. It is in dire need of a turbo kit once loaded in soft sand though. Kits are very dear, so I guess I'll just have to put up with the 65Kw for now, 'till I can move up to a turbo 4.2 GU Patrol one day.... Maybe...

Adrian, shes always loved whales ever since we went on a whale watching cruise out of Hervey Bay some years back.

Reminds me I must do that again one day.

Thanks for sharing a lovely spot and your cooking.  You bring a smile to my heart ... oh to be your age again.  I can still remember very early days of camping without a tent..... Smiley
