G'day Logfire,

When you built that primo Custard at the COG was it Poppy's Custard Powder or another brand? The reason I ask is that it was definately one of the smoothest I have tried and wouldn't mind making some of it.

All the best

Just had a look in the cupboard & there is a new packet of White Wings. I know the COG custard wasn't White Wings but may have been Fosters or Poppy. The apprentice doesn't always buy the same brand, shops for economy rather than brand. Back to the custard at the COG I was lucky (was the best I've made) as I have made some lumpy stuff & had to get the beater & strainer out. I think the secret is don't boil the milk too quickly if at all but keep it just below & plenty of stiring to prevent the sludge building up on the bottom. Also don't scrape the bottom as that's where the lumps come from.
Happy custard making. Do you want an apple pie with that?
