Picked this little oven up from my wife's brother it would appear that it belonged to there grandfather... badly damaged, a bandage around the middle to repair the crack. I cleaned it up and you would not believe it, but it does not leak. A little keep sake.

Yep, she's broken muzz, I have several something similar, mine came as part of an auction lot, as gifts or arrived thru the mail broken after not being properly packed.
Hoping to get them welded one day.

G'day George. Have done a bit of asking around and rang a couple of specialist welders in the Yellow Pages but most shy off welding light gauge C.I. ovens.
I know it can be done and I have two old pots that have been very nicely welded probably years ago, but where ??

G'day muzz,

there is still hope for that pot. I welded up a lid on an old one I picked up a few months ago and it has done nicely. Here are a few snaps to show. The iron was pitted badly and very thin but I penetrated it through and with good results albeit a little ugly.

Still a very good usable piece of iron.
The weld took seasoning and with a few coats one can not really see the old damage.

Good luck Skip

PD I asked the local engineering shop for some Cast Iron rods, they were black and were very easy to use, I remember Mick (BBC) telling me on here to only use a tungsten burr or similar as the grinding wheel can contaminate your weld.

I did use an inverter welder at 85A,  PD look here

Give it a go it wasn't that difficult
All the best
