On a recent trip back to Perth from port Hedland, I always try and stop at old second-hand shops just in case I may come across an old camp oven, but no luck this time.
But passing though a small town I saw a sign saying museum open today, paid my $ 2.00 entry fee and spent a hour talking to lovely old ladies, they must have been well into their seventies, on things like washing in old copper pots taking baths in tin tubs and ironing clothes with a iron heated up on a fire, all very interesting to me.
When walking around I came across a camp oven that I have been looking for in mint condition. I offered them a $150.00 donation for it but they just smiled at me and said they get shot if they did.

...
...

Now all I have to do is drive up one night, take a ring spanner with me open up six  Tec screws , peel back the tin and replace with this one, that I paid $ 5.00 for, after cleaning up first  of course.

...

Just kidding I am a honest guy and I would never do any thing like that Wink

Jono, Saw one of these ovens at a mates place on my way home from Millmerran. He bought it some time ago for $60 new. They have two flat hooks on the side to attach a handle to & the lid handle has a 1/4 inch hole through it unlike most oven lids. Forgot to take any pics.

Mate we should organize a refurbishment trip to Charleville, a 20 litre  drum of olive, a couple of  angle grinders with wire brushes and a BBQ or 2. We could spruce them up in no time and maybe pick something up as well.

Perhaps a Mid West Qld COG

G'day LogFire

Have ya seen the thread with the E & G Foundry Fremantle oven I picked up? http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1206605978/0

Similar?

What size was the one ya mate had?

I'm still confused as to what the 12 on mine represents. (Even after talking to Gran Hickling by phone). He run the factory but was still puzzled why it would have a 12 on it as they used to measure them in diameter.

Cheers
