Nothing to do with economy, but Ive just put my campertrailer up for sale as a package with the 11' punt and motor.
The main reason is to get a bit bigger boat. Some of the places I want to go are a bit hairy in the little punt,if it were only me it might be alright, but I have to think about my little fishing mates, Taylor and Dave the foxie.
I still have a good size dome tent and am going to kit up with a good folding gazebo, some camp stretchers and some other little luxuries which will all fit easily in the boat when travelling cutting down on what I have to put in the car.
At the end of the day it wont take much longer than the trailer to set up.

Robbo

P.S. anyone chasing a campertrailer setup with boat and motor racks, comes with 3.3m punt and 4hp motor, 12 months rego on the trailer, rego (or licence) not required for the boat plus collapsable boat trailer and other extras thrown in.

May your glass be ever full.
May the roof over your head be always strong.
And may you be in heaven
half an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

Should I forego the prestige of the Suzuki with it's leather seats and climate control for

I can't think of anything that the Suzuki can't handle.
They are a go anywhere unit.
The only problem may be getting a trailer into some very remote stuff behind the Suzuki.

Had a COG here with workmates & family last night & after a very enjoyable meal one fellow said "You know if the economy keeps going the way it is, we are going to have to live like this all the time." Couldn't think of a better way to enjoy myself. Good company, good food, good beer, all the basics. Cheesy Wink

Gett'n back to basics, Skip had it when he said, you only get one bite at the cherry.

HE WHO DIES WITH THE MOST TOYS WINS!! Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

For example, I have:-
* 4 Aluminium boats + a canoe (2 jet boats home made)
* 3 cars + the wifes 4wd (2 un reg, = 3 4wd's in total & sold an FJ 40 recently) Thats not including the 4x4 work ute Cheesy
* 5 motor bikes
* 7 Camp ovens
* 5 Sheds full of all sorts of ####

Needless to say I AM A CRONIC HOARDER!!!!! Grin Grin Grin Grin

Seriously though, most of my s&%t is not valuable,
for example, I have & will not ever pay more than 10K for a vehicle, simple is best when you do all your own repairs & servicing & one of the vehicles is a highly modified Suzuki sierra I bought near new in 1982, Thats 27yrs, another is a 1970 VG Valiant 2 door Regal which belonged to my grandparents awaiting restoration when I get time.
Two of my boats, a 12 footer & a 6 foot tinny I have aquired through favours for people along with the 15Hp Tohatsu for the 12 footer, the motor on the little one is a 30cc Honda whipper snipper I converted into an out board, The other two boats are 5 foot aluminium jet boats I made from scratch using old 80cc chainsaw motors, & only 2 of my bikes are worth more than 4K but less than 6 each (one is for my 16yro son)

So for me, it doesn't take expensive items or big outlays to have the things I want, The barter system is still alive & well & works brilliantly for me!!, coupled with my trade skills to knock up "anything metal", that's how the first 2 boats came about (along with a lot of other stuff)- the mentality is "if I cant afford it, make one"

Mick.

Billy,
You are dead right, an older reliable vehicle, boat or anything else does the job as well or better than the new plastic, computerized, overpriced crap that people buy these days just to keep up with the neighbors.
If you can acquire through your bartering all the better.
5 Sheds full of all sorts of ####, you lucky bugger.

G,day Derek
My 2c worth.You worked a long time to be able to afford your car and your camper,in my opinion,keep and enjoy them,if you sell them I believe you will allways regret the decision.  Undecided
cheers George
