Recipe text scanned and saved as a picture, scanner would not save as plain text into Word, saved as a picture in Word!
Did all this:
> click on Browse
> browsed in my Pictures, select and open selected jpeg pic
> link to selected picture appears in box
> fill in Subject of message, fill in message body
> Post message
> no picture!

Error message:  59 kilobytes too large.

I cannot find any way to make my Lexmark X1185 scanner save a scanned document as text on my computer, it will only  save it as a picture, then the picture is too large to upload in a message in this Forum.

I am just on the point of seasoning my flaming Lexmark scanner in a hot oven.........................

David,

It sounds like your scanner doesn't have software installed to support text as editable text.  Please note, I said installed.   It may be there in the software, but require different options in order to be installed.  Beyond that I lack technical ability.

Re. size of image, from what I've seen here I would say much larger images have been uploaded.

Here, you can either attach an image (see sample) via the browse frame in the reply screen.  It says maximum 100 kb.  I'm trying 154 kb.  & allows about 10 extensions.  the extensions or '.jpg' end of your file could be the problem.

Or you can go to online photohost software.  Image Shack is an option here also.

Recently I've become aware of Tiny Pic.  http://tinypic.com/?t=postupload, which lets you resize images.  The normal forum size is 640 pixels in width with a resolution of 150 or higher.

So, let's do the same image and see what happens.    Once uploaded you copy the 'code for forums & message boards'  as in:

...

With a bit of luck I'll have the same image here 2x  I think the attachment didn't take.

Undecided

I solved the problem by removing the Lexmark Scanner/Copier/Printer and reverting back to a Brother Scanner/Copier/Printer.  I easily saved the recipe as a text document into MS Word on my computer.
Then simply copied and pasted into a message in this Forum. However...................the final result had many spelling changes so I had to edit the spelling! Does this Forum change the spelling?

Australian Wombat Haggis may be found in the Recipe section of this Forum unders Roasts and Bakes.

Over here most software is set to US spelling.  It takes effort to set it at even English spelling.

Whatever works.

I'm afraid I just go ahead an key stuff myself, even though my proof reading is yukky.

Cool
