I have been working on a method of "boxing up" my Billmans for transport so that it is supported all across its base & not just the legs, This probably could have been posted in the cake recipe section......Expanda foam & Plywood sponge cake.

The finished product will be a custom made heavy duty canvas bag, neatly fitted with this "biscuit" in the bottom.

First, cut two pieces of 6mm form ply to the same diameter as the bottom of your CO, then cut holes in one of them to sute the legs & give plenty of clearance.

...

Then using cardboard & a staple gun, attach the top to the bottom & put rolls of cardboard in the leg holes to create a void

...

Part fill with foam & allow to rise, making sure you get it into all the corners

...

Then finish enclosing the out side & fill the rest with foam

...

Finished "sponge cake" with cardboard removed

...

As the last pic shows, this one bulged a bit (too much foam) but I was lucky enough to "bleed" some wet foam out from the centre & it came back nicely.

It weighs practically nothing, which was a major design criteria when it already has a 30Kg oven sitting on top.

Mick.

Nearly forgot about Mick's little invention.  Thought I would move it to DIY and bring it up for new members.

Any one else made one????
