Hi all, My name is Bob, and I am a cast-metal-cooking-aholic

I have been camping and Camp cooking for 25+ years and really enjoy the world of camp ovens.

I had to really consider the weight issue in my caravan so went back to a Cobb Cooker for ages (and I love it).

I had some bad experiences with spun metal (Bedourie) style oven, but have now got an Aussie Camp Oven, and LOVE it.

It is nice to see a group of folks who enjoy this as much as I...

I have to admit that I have a penchant for jaffles and have about six different irons.. My particular like is round ones (aluminium) but I will add to my collection any time I can.

Onwards and upwards folks!!

Cheesy May your wood be hard, your coals long lasting, the food cooked perfectly, and may your burns heal quick!!!  Wink

Hi Bob and a very warm welcome.  I am sure we are all going to benefit from your experience.

Have you tried the Furphy Jaffle Iron. http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1183271778

I certainly have tried one, and used it for some time cooking for the overseas exchange students...

It is marvellous!!  And it  is a hoot to tell them they are eating kangaroo or koala (depending on which side of the jaffle is up)

Then they have a good laugh and tuck into what ever is on offer.

I have since had to return mine... his to him...

I have ordered my Furphy and should get it soon.  Dang they are hard to find.  I have sourced for less than they go on E-bay usually..

Hi from me.

Derek I hadnt seen those great jaffle irons before.  The only ones in the stores around here are those thin chinese square ones.  You have given me something to look out for.  We had a round set without the fancy animals for years as kids.

Rastas000 perhaps Derek could open a thread in the recipes section for Jaffles and you can give us your recipes.   The MOTH is inclined to cook extra bacon, eggs and beans and make one up and has it cold for lunch when we travel.

Yeeeeeharrrr..  Thanks for the friendly wishes folks...

As part of my learnin' about doing web sites again, it is my intention to build a jaffle related site, (as they are few and far between, if any are out there at all)..

So, a place to share here is great... and I look forward to sharing a campfire or two with folks...

Hooroo

Bob
