My immediate neighbour is a camp oven cook and attended the Kingsthorpe COG last Sunday.  He has often spoken about his old Irish camp ovens brought out by his wife's grandfather, allegedly on a sailing ship.  Just got a knock on the front door a few minutes ago and there he was with the ovens and an old Metters.
He would like to identify the make of the Irish ones and possibly try to date them, the description is this:
A brand name, under the handle, written in script like a signature, first letter is S, the last letter is m, with a line under the name as if it was a signature.  The use of lifters over the years has worn away the other letters.
Any ideas?

No idea David but I did have a chat to him at the COG about them and offered him a price unseen and he just laughed at me.  Roll Eyes Tongue

Simpson also made the early Bedourie Camp Ovens.  This pic shows the Simpson logo on a Bedourie.

The name is the same direction as the handle, not at ninety degrees to it Derek.
I must say that the Simpson script is very similar even with the line under it, but the name is shorter and it does look like an 'm' at the end.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
I will go and have another look at it.

Just seen him tonight, it is definately an "m" at the end and the name is shorter than Simpson.

Any suggestions?
