Hi folks.

I want to purchase a swag, probably a dome swag.  Does anyone have any ideas or advice on this matter?  I sure would appreciate it.
I travelled to the Birdsville races last year with a couple of mates and we slept under the stars.  i borrowed a swag for the trip and was impressed.  I am in the market now.

PS   One of the highlights of the trip was the fun we had with the camp oven.  i took mine along (only recently purchased before the trip) and the mates were wraped in it.  It wasn't long before we became competitive in regards to cooking the best meal.  Great fun.

Cheers

My son has a burke and Wills.
Good quality, keeps the rain out, the insects out and a good matress.
Only problems we have had with it is the aluminium hoops have busted twice on it.
There is a lot of tension on them where they fit over the pins at each corner of the swag.

for what its worth..good luck

I purchased several different ones/types over the years from hooped to framed to throw over types... a

I now have a Viking Swag...  I took a recommendation from a Stock Squad police officer.

I have to say, that I have never felt more looked after by anyone over the phone.  I highly recommend this fellow and his swags.

I like the fact that the base is NOT canvas, so it does not absorb moisture from the ground.  A quick wipe down and it rolls away dry.

I also asked for a longer swag as I am 6 foot 3 inches tall.  Done, and a higher density foam as well.. Done.

Now, having said all that, without knowing what you are doing and what sort of use you have for a swag, it is hard to recommend a type.  But after a lot of years swagging it, I have come back to the basics.  A longer flap one side, able to tent up if I need to, and also screens that zip in, do it for me.

A furphy, is Australian slang for a rumour, or an erroneous or improbable story.  You would never get anything but the plain honest dinky-di truth here... I promise!!!!  Yup, hand on my heart, promise, true blue, uh-huh true dinks, dead set!!

Thanks for that Aart.  I will certainly look at the website.  I suppose there are different qualities when it comes to the canvas.  Are they all made in CHina these days?  Or maybe that doesn't matter.

Cheers

Oh, Mr. Bush-Cook, would you be so good as to supply some comprehensive photo images of your swag, displaying all of it's merits, if you please.

I can't help but wonder if the "feeling" comes over when the engine is reving fast, or slow.......
