They have just had the IDOS Championships in the US.  Teams have to cook a meat dish, a bread and a dessert.  All dishes have to be cooked directly in the camp oven without using any trays.

Some great looking food.

Somehow I don't think I am ready for it  Smiley

I am sure most of those attending Thora could give anyone a run for their money and from the posts in here quite a few more of you who werent there.

Maybe you could seek out a product sponsor to pay for a team to go.   Cheesy

Wonder what the yanks would think of Poddys Road Kill Kangaroo  Grin or maybe Green Curried Koala.

I must remember to get some paper doillies next time.

Ahhhhh,  the Devilled Wombat,  Twice Cooked Echidna, Pureed Platypus and the Coat of Arms Curry (Emu and Kangaroo) would also go down a treat.

A furphy, is Australian slang for a rumour, or an erroneous or improbable story.  You would never get anything but the plain honest dinky-di truth here... I promise!!!!  Yup, hand on my heart, promise, true blue, uh-huh true dinks, dead set!!

They would have to a rich sponsor with a 18" Billmans as carry on luggage and the rest of the gear.

Now ya talk'n Muzz, cook up a slab of meat that ya' couldnt jump over!! Grin Grin Grin

Nice meals but a bit "Artsy Fartsy" for my liking, They have lost the whole concept of what a "Camp oven" (or DO) is all about. Camping, or bush cook'n, is more about making use of what's available, kick'n back, with a good feed, a cold beer, enjoying the scenery & the company (or lack of sometimes).
Thats where the good old roast can't be beat, just set it & forget it!
I have in the past, got so wound up trying to produce too many different things (main, bread, dessert) that it loses its "funness". Grin Cheesy

Interesting .............

The competition side of CI cooking needs an overhaul, for example each competitor should be given the same time and ingredients to use knlwoledge and skill to present a dish (a bit like SBS' Iron Chef).

Then events/sections such as Millmerrans signature dish can cater for the inventiveness as seen in this post from the USA
