Hello astroboy,
so does that mean your recent sales on ebay is really getting rid of useless ####??? Smiley
To me RM Williams is an Australian icon, and to sell your pots on ebay as opposed to keeping for your family does not make sense. Basically as they looked a good pot/product and from my point of view, few and far between. Or are they???

By the way, why did you cancel the sale on '12' Carron'???

MMM  Smiley ( over my shoulder is Mrs MMM saying you can't write that!!
But I told her, I wear the pants in this house. Smiley Smiley Smiley )

You is a brave man MMM.
Selling off good ovens is like selling your first born, only harder. You can always get another kid but good ovens are harder to come by.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

In reply to your first comment Matt I made a decision to cull some of my collection and give someone else an opportunity to own some of these cast iron collectables. The pots I have listed so far are all top pots but unfortunately due to space issues I had to down size.
I had some double ups so I chose to sell some of those off to make a bit of room. Ebay is great for a seller but ridiculous for a buyer I can't believe the prices some ovens are getting, particlarly that 10" Metters for $370 Shocked  Anyway I was happy to let a few go like the RM Williams one's and the Metter's 14" plus a couple of others I listed and I'm sure they have gone to good homes.
As for the Carron pots I had listed the 10" and the 12" I was reluctant at first to put them on and then after they were listed for a couple of days I had second thoughts and pulled them off, they are both great old pots and I could'nt part with them just yet. Oh well nothing another shelf won't fix in the shed Grin

Astro,

There's always a good home down here for any of your surplus Carrons.  Tongue Grin Tongue

Seriously though, is it worth posting some of the pictures of your RM Williams pot for posterity on the Camp Oven History section of this site? Smiley

I see Astro is advertising a cousin of the pot I bought new in the early 80's. My 'knockabout pot' has had a hiding over the years and it's still going strong. They're a top little cooking pot and a good versatile size at 14", particularly if ya only want to take one CO away campin.  Cool

What's cooking in the Gem Iron SJ ?
Recipe please in anticipation thanks mate

Aart

Aart,

It's one of my own recipes which I call 'double chocolate chip gems'. My wife and son who are chocoholics love it, however unfortunately the recipe is in my head and I've nothing written down.

Give us a week or so, to make the dish again and I will attempt to measure and record the quantities used.  Wink

G'day Aart

As requested, I have posted my Double Chocolate Chip recipe in the Cake, Pastries and Dessert section of this site
