Derek, I have been looking for those spring loaded pole ends for the center pole you were telling me about at Thora,
Do you know of a brand name or something??

Cheers, Mick.

...

Is this what you are after???

Just go to any camping store and they SHOULD have a varient of these.  You can get a "T" shaped one too (it spreads the lead a bit)

http://supapeg.com.au/Products/poleaccess.htm#Supa%20Pole%20Caps

When I use these, I ALWAYS use the spring loaded ones.  If you get a length of rope (or shock cord) and tie a clove hitch in the middle of it, then tie it off to the diagonal corners of the tarp, it will not fall over even if the wind billows the tarp...

BCF do this sort of thing without a spring.. (Under $2.00, I think) and they also have the red ones with a spring for about 3 bucks

A furphy, is Australian slang for a rumour, or an erroneous or improbable story.  You would never get anything but the plain honest dinky-di truth here... I promise!!!!  Yup, hand on my heart, promise, true blue, uh-huh true dinks, dead set!!
