Looking for meat in that section of Woolworths yesterday I noticed lamb offcuts at $1.50 a Kg. I got a couple of trays and while I trimmed off a lot of fat and bone ( 30%, the dogs didn't mind), it was still a cheap meal. I did a casserole with tomatoes, capsicum etc etc and rosemary.

PD, I love Lamb Neck Chops for a stew or casserole.
Often use a packet of "Maggi lamb casserole" as a base and work from there

I started out with nothing and still have most of it

I've also found cheaper cuts of meat to be often tastier than the the prime cuts, particularly when used in stews or casseroles.

You're right SJ, I heard that the next Cooking Comp is to be a Curry dish and mutton and cheaper cuts of beef like chuck steak are more suitable as it's all about slow cooking and flavour.

Lovin this topic, I have gone to the off cuts section and for $2.00 brought the lamb flap, slice down the ribs and cook like you would normal ribs, ya need a few for a feed but cheap as, especially if you are serving a few courses, lamb ribs the kids love them.

Not off-cuts be the real deal.
Just luv "Cleaver's Healthy Organic Butterfly Lamb Leg", available in Coles. Cooks a treat on a Cobb.

Yep, I have a great curry recipe book here that has some recipes gently simmering for 3 hours.
