Just love the personal service from Billmans:

7th May 2009

Hi David,

Your lid has been cast and is in the fettling shop, but we have run out of  12" bases so will have to wait until they are done, hopefully in the next  couple of weeks.

I will send you a message and invoice when they are almost
ready.

Kind regards

Kerrie Holland

If circumstances permit  order your oven from Billmans and then go and pick it up, then while you're there ask Max for a tour and see how they're cast, Sundryed and myself did that last year, terrific.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

SJ you didn't muck around then, must be heavy, the 15" weighs enough let alone the 18".

My mates sitting there, not offering to help, just saying sh&t like "sausages are much easier".
Bastards, If I could have lifted it that high, I would have dropped it on their toes. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

I did a 6.5Kg leg of pork in it last w/e. turned out smick again...7hrs in the pot, melt in ya' mouth stuff.

Mick,
The Billman's 18" is certainly the biggest and heaviest pot I've ever owned.....at 30 plus kilos, it's a veritable whopper..  Cheesy

The recent July School Holidays was the first time I put it through it's paces at least in a camping situation.

We stayed in a hut situated up in the North East Victorian snow country, which we use as a base camp for our skiing and snow boarding exploits. The hut boasts a large fireplace, equipped with a fire crane and a number of 8 gauge fencing wire billy hooks hung off it. Over the years, these billy hooks have comfortably hung, all manner of camp ovens , including my beefy 15” Furphy, however the first night up their, the hooks met their 'Waterloo' with the 18” Billman’s. The poor old wire hooks just couldn’t handle the weight . All of a sudden the hook bend straightened under the load...... and of course...... 'stone the bloody crows', .....the pot flopped over into the fire..... didn't it....!!  Shocked  Grin Grin  Not that it was all that funny at the time... !!! Although my son thought it was hilarious and nearly fell into the fire himself.. . with laughter!!! ....Little DEVIL!! ....Grin Grin Grin With only the grace of God and a little ash... the meal survived and fed us all that evening Smiley

Over that two week period and aside from the hook problem, the 18” proved to be a superb cooking pot, what with churning out numerous dishes, including roasts, stews, curries, pizza, bread, scones, cakes, etc.
My son was particularly impressed with the fact that it would accommodate large homemade pizza  Tongue and that the oven was also large enough to facilitate the cooking of two standard size sponge cakes at a time. Smiley

George your pot may well be ready. When i picked up mine, I noticed there were a heap of pots in the back room waiting for their prospective owners.
