Purchased a set of 3 small bar tins from BigW yesterday with the idea of making of making three small cakes (one to eat & two to freeze for later). Here are the recipe & the results. Tasted good.

Date & Nut Cake
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts (walnut, pecan)
1cup boiling water
2 cups SR flour
1 cup sugar (or less)
2 tbs butter
1 tsp bi-carb soda
1 tsp vanilla
Mix dates, bi-carb soda & butter with boiling water.
Add remaining ingredients & mix well.
Bake in a moderate oven (180C) for approx 25 minutes

I have gone off to find myself. If I get back before I return, keep me here.

Looks like a Bedourie to me Rastas, that latch on the side, at top of pic looks to be the giveaway. Could be bigger than 12" though. Can't tell how big the tins are!

Excellent results Keith bet they were the grouse. Did you happen to spill a little custard over a slice mate?
I will give these a go & make one for the Missus as she will be home tonight after some time away.

Thanks
