Yes it came with those instructions David.........did all of the above but cheated on the sanding ,,,,,,used a power tool to do the job. At the end of it all it didnt look seasoned to me so oiled it and cooked hell out of it a few times. Result was then Excellent.

THAI STYLE PRAWN POTJIE - Serves 4 - No. 2 Potjie

20ml butter
20ml olive oil
1kg prawn meat
1 large onion, chopped
1 red pepper, deseeded and sliced
1 clove garlic, crushed
500g button mushrooms, sliced
250g Jasmine rice
1ml salt
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
1ml cayenne pepper
2ml turmeric
5ml lemon grass or two fresh storks, bruised
400ml coconut milk


Cook this dish slowly over low coals.

Heat butter and oil in the cast-iron pot and sautι onions, peppers and garlic until onions are transparent.

Season with salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper and stir in the rice.

Gently heat coconut milk, lemon grass and turmeric.

Layer prawns and mushrooms on top of ingredients in the pot and add heated liquid.

Cover with lid and simmer slowly for about 30-45 minutes or until rice is cooked.

Serve in bowls.

Sounds good for The Gorge......................... Wink

I just bought one .......................from same place as SBB.
It appears to be a virtual Internet mail order store.
An interesting site.
btw a meat shop at Charlton near where I live is owned by South Africans and they produce those pinwheel BOEREWORS sausages  - anybody want me to bring one to The Gorge?

Looks good Lil, did you really cook the prawns that long, it seemed too long to me and I thought might toughen them, yours look great.

I just love that shape pot.

I did cook it for about 45mins Carolyn....the prawns were good ....I guess they steam....I was impressed ....will definitely cook it again (maybe at the gorge) Wink Was a easy recipe Grin
