I have found Deb Instant Potato a good optional thickener for stews and the like.
Just mix into the brew slowly as it can tend to overthicken if you use too much.
Had to eat pea and ham soup with a knife and fork after overdoing it and it does tend to clog the plumbing as well.  Cry

I started out with nothing and still have most of it

Thanks for this idea Sooty.  I tried it out last night and it worked well.

I didnt want a tomato base or cream base and did a curried chicken using chicken stock, reducing it and adding little by little some Deb potato to thick it.  Your right it doesnt need much.

One of the competitors at Lismore used this in a damper.  Can't tell you who because my lips are sealed.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

KD I rather liked the consistency of the Deb better than cornflour and no need to premix with cold water etc.

Hmmmm in a damper ok will remember that   Wink
