I am understanding some are having some time getting Lodge Camp Ovens to Australia.  I am currently working on my website and making new offers.  I expect a new shipment of camp ovens and skillets in tomorrow and they will be ready for posting immediately.  I started the business to help get out of debt.  Someone here can tell you I just reconditioned my truck and it changes colours.  The colour is metalflake green but also turns blue.  As I ride down the road, the truck presents an optical illusion of colour.  Aside from that I had to have new engine, brakes, lines, interior, carpet and spray in bed liner put into the truck.  I had put a hefty sum of money into the car to keep it running for another 12 years.

I had taken some finance classes and have been looking to market my business.  I am currently working two jobs for different employers and running my own business.  If successful, I hope the business will take the place of one of the employers I have to run back and fourth to.  I also live on a farm in Kentucky and from time to time have to mow grass and bush hog the fields along with burning brush which is a good time to get out my 14 inch dutch oven and start cooking.  I made chicken and roasted onions in my 14, 6, and 5 inch camp oven.  Lodge no longer makes the 5 inch camp oven and I offer a kettle with a lid on top to satisfy the need to have something small.  On my site, www.squirrelstradingcompany.com I offer a country kettle with a lid.  Lodge sells the lids separately and list the lids alone for $10.00us.  I offer the lids with the kettle and mini skillet for your cooking pleasure.

I wish to advise potential customers, I use United States Post Office flat rate boxes and ask you contact me to see if your order will go in a small, medium or large flat rate box.  The best I can do in sending a Dutch Oven to Australia is to send a 12 inch in a large flat rate box and charge the necessary shipping.  Therefore, I have to take the Dutch Oven out of its box and put it in a large flat rate box and ship it and it has to be under 20 pounds in order to get the flat rate.  Lodge makes two 12 inch camp dutch ovens.  One is deeper than the other.  Therefore one may weigh more and may not be sent in a large flat rate box.  I hope my site works for you and it should compute shipping for you.  Good luck.

I am finding some creative ideas here and it looks like the Dutch Oven Experience is being taken a step further.  I have recently looked for cast iron kettles and came up with Potjies and they are cast iron pots from South Africa and surprisingly, I found a supplier who will drop ship out of the country.  They have some large Dutch Ovens and Caldrons that go up to and over 85 gallons.  But instead of getting a large caldron, I will be focusing on the little things.  I have a Potjie ordered and looking for it to arrive so I can evaluate it.  I may want to do a small meal for one in it before getting something larger.  I've added more to my site and recently added a 10 quart oval roaster that is made of pure cast iron.

I don't know about the whole tribe but it will certainly accommodate a missionary or two or three.  Grin Grin Grin

Seriously though, 85 gallons of water equates to nearly 400kgs  Shocked which means that one of these pot's full, for example of stew, would weigh in excess of half a tonne and have the capacity to feed around 600 people  Shocked

I reckon a pot like that would make a superb bush bath. Just fill it with water, light a fire underneath to bring it up to temperature and jump in  aaaaahhhhh  Cool
