I see John's oven is now getting a good workout eh but.!!!

Just noticed...what is the aluminium dish thing sitting on or are you doing one lot above another lot???

Crazy Dog I tried one on top of the other with a rack on the bottom and a second rack in between, I also cooked some in a single tray, I did not make any difference in the jam drops, still working on the correct temperature though, to brown them up in the new oven.

The recipe is the old one using the Day to Day Cookery book.

Biscuit Mixture.

125 g Butter
½ Cup caster sugar
1 ¾  Cups self-raising flour
1 egg
Vanilla
Jam

1 Beat butter and sugar to a cream.
2 Add the egg and beat well, add vanilla.
3 Gradually add sifted flour.
4 Mix into a stiff past.
5 Roll mixture into balls and place on greased tray.
6 Make a hollow in each and place jam in each biscuit.
Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.

Carolyn, John and I are playing with his oven he made, John got the oven ready for me and he thinks he had 12 in the base of the his oven and 12 on the lid of the camp oven.

I think, I would use a bit more heat on top to brown them up, but with that heat I made 32 jam drops and each batch took around 20 minutes.

I don’t know how many heat beads you would use with the camp oven the normal way. You can sort of see the oven he made in the first picture, the top closes up over the camp oven.

I am planning on trying some other recipes in it as well.
