What a trip. The COG was great even though it was just Derek & Myself from the forum. Derek brought his good mate Merve and I had another couple come with us. Brozy pulled out last minute with crook kids.

We arrived a day early (had had enough of the clowns at the muster) and left Derek & his Suzi to battle the soft sand at Inskip point on his own (Sorry mate). (Photos please Derek)

Here's a few snaps, I'm sure Derek has the best of the photos he can add.

Very good Jonno.  I was in the process of planning to get away again down to the Tweed Heads area but cannot get a replacement tyre until later in the week so a bit buggerred at the moment.

Will post up my photos later today or tonight.

GETTING THERE

Why it is perhaps not a smart idea to take a small 4X4 with low clearance to Fraser Island.  This was less than 100 metres from the end of the bitumen.  All four wheels are spinning in the air and she's sitting flat on her belly.

At this stage I was wondering if we shouldn't turn around and go home however thanks to a young fella in a 4X4 who was determined that we should get on the barge we made it.  He actually towed me right onto the barge.

She towed well all the way up the beach however when we tried to drive off the beach to the camp ground, down she went again and Jono came to the rescue with another tow.

Many thanks to Jono for carting Merve and myself around Fraser and to Bruce who towed the camper trailer back to Inskip Point on the way home.

...

We went across and back on the Manta Ray
