Sundryd has mentioned the photos not always coming up.  I have been having similar problems, they come up eventually though.  The MOTH blames it on my uploads but others in the family elsewhere have been commenting about not being able to get into their hotmail etc.

I am on ADSL Bigpond and I think they are the problem!!!!!

I have a 12G limit and never use even a third of that.  To upload a Youtube can take me 4-5 HOURS but if I put the dongle in the laptop (which is more expensive) the same thing only takes 45 minutes.

I was out at Winton, (Western Qld) visiting our son and daughter last week, and I used my daughters system. I found it slow also, but they use a different provider and have unlimited download at 8000kbps.

Yes, for me also, photos have gotten a bit slower than other items.

I've always had my status bar open, the one next to last on the bottom of the page that tells you if you are going where you expect to go.  I watch that and don't expect to be able to move around until everything has loaded, unlike for all other sites.

& for a few months now I've been reading while signed out.  It makes this site noticeably faster, but still a good 30 seconds longer to load than any other site.  (& I fun through the gamut of computer clean up stuff weekly).

Still the status bar says done, having gone through at least 5 different sites to connect, & pictures, attached or hosted online elsewhere don't come up.  For the past several days I've tried to hang on another 10 seconds at least before I give up.  Or I go to some other thread and come back later, correctly figuring that maybe 1/2 of the photos are in cache.  When I come back, photos load faster.  But still I've allowed double time to have them load at all.

So, all, it's not just servers in Oz.

Cool

The only change to the forum has been the addition of the link to Facebook on the front page.  I have removed that to see how we go.

Must admit it is pretty well instant for me here.

Could be.  I am using AAPT and have the ADSL 2 with a 12 gig download.

The removal of that huge Facebook entry speeds things up almost astronomically.  Photos that I haven't looked at in awhile came up at the same rate of speed as the rest of COCIA loaded.

Thank you
