Today I went to my favourite antique shops and came across what looks to be a very old camp oven, after doing a bit of research on the Internet it looks like this camp oven was manufactured for the Wellington surplus store, but unfortunately the company went bankrupt.
Then I think the contract to supply camp ovens went to the E& G Foundry in Fremantle.
The camp oven looks to be in excellent condition apart from having its legs removed, I paid $70 for the oven,

Hi Nelson

There is still a Scandia Stove Company in Victoria that put out a camp oven called a Hog Pot.  Have seen them in several stores around the place.  Not sure if there is any connection.

I did contact them once and they told me that the ones they have are made in China.

Have a look - http://www.scandiastoves.com.au/otherproducts.html

There seems to be some similarity in the ears.

Hi Nelson

Yes looks very much like a E&G & the Dungog Forge that were made in Belmont WA in the early 90s.
What are the dimensions?

Hi Geoff  I received this e-mail today from scandia

Hello Nelson,
If it is one of ours it (which it looks like, but I do not recall having
WA on any) it would have been imported from China anywhere in the last 25
years.

Regards,
Jake Cassar

not much help I am afraid but I still believe this camp oven was manufactured somewhere in Western Australia.
I'm going to try and do more research and hopefully one day I will find out who casted it, anyway after cleaning and seasoning the oven came out looking great  Smiley

I put this in the history section.  I think this needs exploring more.

This CO was part of the collection on the tray of an old truck in the Tourist Information place in Newman (WA).

If not completely visible in the pic. it has:   SCANIA  WA cast onto the lid.
12", the base has ears similar to a Metters but the legs were round and stumpy. Photo taken by mikel

This oven was in a museum in Southern Cross WA, November 2011 by nelson

This foundry closed down sometime  in the sixties , but I am still to find out ware it was in Perth. I have also seen one at the Narrogin museum in WA

I noticed the Scandia's in the photos are legless, were they manufactured with legs? Smiley
