We only just touched on exploring the area really.  Sounds like it is a stomping ground for Derek. Perhaps he or someone else with more in-depth knowledge would know a couple of suitable spots for consideration.
The camp opposite the turn off to Talbingo from the highway had quite a large area.
We do have to supply our own wood for any campfires - it is part of the National Park.
