Worth the time to look at it even if it is yankee

Trust me, whether you remember the 60s or not this is well worth watching, awesome music and facts about the time. ENJOY

1960's

This is the one of the best presentations of the sixties that I have ever seen online. It is very well done. Just click on the link and sit back and enjoy the memories. Great photos and facts. If you are not quite old enough to have been there, feel free to pass it on to someone who is.

Generally, I agree with Carolyn.  The music of the 50s was much, Much MUCH better than the 60s.

Those songs are some of the best of the 60s,   & when it went over to high volume twangers it died.

Now, just heard this week re. the US music awards ceremonies the commentary that US music is still tied to the very commerical companies.   But Canadian music is much more creative.  Certainly there are a lot of Candian musicians who do it all themselves.  & produce music I really enjoy.

Now, if you can pick up anything from Canada, Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap is excellent.  From the program guide online:  Quote:
Randy Bachman has provided a veritable soundtrack to the last thirty years of popular music

Granted a majority N. American, but it's better to say music in English.

Nope....I remember Cole Joy, Johnny Okeefe and a few others.

We didnt get tv at first and what I did enjoy was going to a girlfriends who had a very cute older brother  Wink  Wink a few of us went and as the mother didnt cook she let us cook cakes and watch the Saturday afternoon wrestling  Grin   Grin   Grin

I mostly led a pretty sheltered life  Cheesy  Cheesy and did ballroom dancing, my generation mostly did not go to pubs or wild places and for us distance and lack of transport held us back as well.

Not the 50's, 60's but the 70's!
From your own Kate & Anna McGarrigle. Long time favorites of mine with their own very distinctive style.
I actually come from the 30's, but I dont recall much of that era!

Kate McGarrigle (February 6, 1946 - January 18, 2010)

Montreal Gazette re. funeral:  http://www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/Funeral+Kate+McGarrigle+Monday+Mont...

When I heard, I hunted on youtube.  All I can say of that date is that I tried over 10 of them, going by # of views and did not find one of adquate video quality for sharing.

But if you find one Mikel. please share.  She and her sister are very special to many of us.

Cool

That was very sad to me reading your last post. Sad
I immediately went to my old box of albums and found perhaps the first lp I bought of the McGarrigle sisters. "Dancer with the bruised knees"
As I type this I am listening to "Blanche comme la Neige" Cry
Thank you for your post.

Is this the one you refer to Mikel? I'd never heard of them before and I don't mind a bit of folk music
