"No comment Aart!!"

You shouldnt encourage me Rob  Cheesy Cheesy

In FB I have at last been accepted by the Volcano page and thought I should do an Aussie Damper.  Now dampers are not my thing but something I always try not to leave behind is a folder with some basic recipes as a guide line.  I just happened to have Sundryds Golden Syrup Damper which I had never got around to making before.  To keep the man happy I added a cup of dried fruit to it.  Now it wouldnt win at the CWA  but on a cool day with a bit of drizzle and a nice hot cup of tea its most enjoyable.

The beads last a long time in the Volcano and so to please KD I put the middle plate in the Volcano loaded it up with the beads off the lid of the CO and you can see the beads in the centre if you look hard.  I had brought the grill I told you was in the set and it made a very nice roast beef, hot mustard, Jarlsberg cheese and tomato toasted sandwich.

Aart  might have known it would appeal to you.  Cheesy  Like most I keep printing things out that I will cook one day.  It should be in the breads, dampers etc as thats where i would have got it.   It smells divine the whole time its cooking, on contemplating the half of it left and still perfuming the van ha ha I think that lovely dutch spice or ginger in it would take it to yet another dimension.  This is as I have it printed out:

Sundryd- Golden Syrup Damper

3 cups SR Flour
1/2 tspn salt
2 tsp butter
2 tsp golden syrup
1 cup Milk
2 tablespoons boiling water

Dissolve butter and golden syrup with boiling water, add milk, add to flour and salt, mix well so ingredients are combined, if not moist enough add a bit more milk.  Form into round, bake in camp oven for 25-30 minutes.

I am ROFL here typing it I didnt read it properly before and used 2 Tablespoons of butter and 2 Tablespoons Golden Syrup which is probably why it ended up a bit like cake LOL.  I wondered why I had to add about another 1/2 cup flour  Cheesy  Cheesy

I used 8 beads under and 16 on top in a 12" in the Volcano.

Now the general info on the Volcano is that you would mostly use less beads with it.

I am rough judging in my usual manner that the beads would get the camp oven to 350-375 on a camp oven table and as I would do scones, damper and bread higher more like 400  this should balance out the difference and it seems to be working ok, especially as its fairly breezy here.  Hope that makes sense.
