Sorry not to be joining you all but maybe next year we will head south again camping, I will be down for a few quick days during the Arts Festival in October.   The MOTH made an executive decision and we will be at Condoblin so drop by for a chat if you make it there.

We have been practicing out in the shed on these cold, wintery nights Smiley Smiley

looked at carolyn's you-tube of scotch eggs and gave them ago (never cooked/tasted them before)

first attempt was not too bad, but will try again soon.

...

...

we have quite a few campers going on a trip next weekend and will try and gee up some SA interest in the cocia group.

unfortunately Cindy couldn't get the week off after this cog, so we cannot continue on to Condoblin. Cry Cry

will Horseshoe be busy thsi weekend?? and what do we do about firewood??

Is the river close/ very close??

I think we have drove through this camping area before, but cannot find photos.

Rick

Update.  Horseshoe Bend is on the Wimmera River just south of Dimboola and is accessible by 2wd cars etc.  The area is quite large so there is lots of options to set up camp.  I am advised by Parks Victoria that there is a $13.50 camp fee per day for a site.  Sorry about this and I should have checked earlier. They also said that there should be no problems with getting a spot.  I will be there Friday and pick a spot for all of us.
Fires in designated pits only (normal) but no firewood on site so it's BYO wood or heatbeads.  I will bring sufficient wood for a bush TV and some degree of cooking.  If everyone brings a "decent" bag of wood, that should be ample for the weekend.
If you head for Google maps and zoom in on Dimboola you will see Horseshoe Bend Road running south.  The first really good U turn on the river is where we will be  meeting.
Head south on High Street from the highway.  Right at Llyod St then left at Wimmera St past the caravan park, over the river then left onto Horseshoe Bend Road.  This is a dirt road.  About  1Km along there is a right junction at a windmill and water tank - go right.
At Pine Avenue you need to dink right then left.  Once you reach Pomponderoo Hill Road that's the entrance to the National Park.  Next left track is the one for Horseshoe Bend off River Track.

Closer to time I will put up some mobile phone numbers so we can keep in touch.
Hope this helps.

thanks for the info ozjeeper. the fees are no problem, and will be bring wood and plenty of heatbeads.

I'll be testing my new "signature" dish  Cheesy Cheesy Cool on smokeydave and a heap of others this weekend. a real south ozzie iconic dish Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

the water looks low in your river photos smokey. still looks "fishy" though. maybe a Yabbie soup is on the cards.
