I never heard of, or had a pie floater until I came to Broken Hill.

They are now winter Saturday's lunchtime fare.

How this cullinary icon has not escape into the rest of Oz has me tossed.

The pie floater was popular in the Great Depression also Rolly  Smiley

Hope to see your effort in the current challenge  Smiley

Just checked the link and the video seems to be missing  Undecided

When making my first couple of tries, I kept on playing the YouTube to keep me on track.

From memory, sauté the bacon pieces, onions and diced veggies.

Soak the green split peas with a couple of Tbs of bicarbonate soda for an hour or two.

( this does make the soup greener)

Add the stock and the peas to the mix and bubble away in the campoven.

Use a potato masher and mash away when the peas are soft enough.

As good as or better than any that I have tasted.

I will try and find that missing YouTube as it was a good teacher.

Rolly here is my take on the Pie Floater.
I call it a "Jaffle Floater"

I've been practising my pies lately cooking them straight in a small camp oven with puff pastry but I think the floating part might just make them perfect thanks guys shackles that looks very impressive
