I have just joined in here after visiting over a time.
I have acquired a compulsion for jiffies ( or jaffles as you know them).
All my other cooking stuff is cast iron as I am not a fan of aluminium, but with jiffies there is no choice- well not much as yet. If i want them it is got to be ali so I have compromised my ethic in that respect.

I just came upon this unit that looks to be Malco(?)
Uses for this? Bread sticks, sausage meat fillers and all combinations come to mind
Does anyone recognize this and what can you tell me of Malco? It is Aussie, yes?

I also purchased a two pot square Malco(?) with it.

Welcome Grump
Great way to start with photos.

I agree with your remarks on aluminium.
Don't collect jaffle irons my self.
But I do have a cast iron one in the camping box.
Great for an easy meal and using left overs.

Easy for kids to use as well

Couple of JI collectors on here
They will set you on the right track.

Aart

Cheers Aart.
That is the idea; to have the youngsters around for a bbq with Jiffies as a treat; I reckon that they will enjoy the fun. I can remember the good times we had as children knocking up all sorts of creations in our jiffies; more often overfilling them with the predictable results.. all good stuff though.
They're quite foreign to the new generation today but not for much longer ??? Smiley.

I read further on in this section and found  http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1267001066
Maybe my snarler iron be the same as Rastas? Obviously not the same quality though as I paid a bit more than NZ $11.50  . No postage though Wink

Hi Daryl. I just received my two section Malco Toast-Rite. The hinges are a bit manky n loose; not impressed. So hopefully the snarler cooker is an improvement in that area. if not I may need to re-pin them.
Those characteristic Malco handles are the givaway. Have you come upon other foundries with a similar kick??
I have seen your moniker hereabouts, picking off the bargains Wink You have scored some good ones. Freight across the ditch can be the factor...

That hotdog jaffle iron looks great. I'd probably drill small holes in the ends to put wire through each one and use it to make big sinkers for the reef.

Bugger off Glenn Smiley, if I was fishing off the reef I would be inclined to use the Wife's cookie  tins as sinker molds. Or if I was fishing off the Kaipara, I would use Holden short blocks Wink
