We have been on the road just on 2 months, N to Normanton then W to Burketown, across the top road to Borroloola, Carpenteria hwy. to Dunmarra, across Buchanan hwy. to Timber crk then zig zag west, Wyndham, Gibb r. road to Derby now here we are at Quondong pt. about 50km.N of Broome.
Bush campingf all the way except 2 nights Broome.
Caught a few fish along the way, but this bloke (her, actually!) attacked a lure in the King r. at Wyndham.
On a run in tide, peeled about 80m. of 10kg. braid off before I started to make headway. A good 40 min. battle with plenty of tailwalking displays.
Exactly 120cm., it felt like 25kg. lifting it up.
We now have a freezer full of fillets, eating beautifully!
Our travels continue......

Mikel,
To me any wild river Barra  over a metre is the fish of a lifetime.
I was lucky to catch the twin of yours about 10 years ago and will never forget the experience.
Well done mate

Something I have to look forward too.

Nice picture!

My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed.       I never knew they worked.

One word for that Mikel "outstanding"
they tell me you could catch a fish in a puddle on the roadside mate Smiley

I remember how good it was to eat when last at the Roper River. Did you pass through there whilst at Boroloola?
The Barra could be seen (red eyes) at night by torchlight laying on the concrete of the Roper Bar!!

Would you have been using a home made lure by any chance Mikel?

Regards Skip Smiley
