Padre White Memorial to all who serve.

A fitting tribute to a man who gave us the dawn service was held today. Bonnie and I went out for the Remembrance Day service where a memorial to Padre White was opened so I thought I might share with you this moment in time, 11-11-11.

Some history of Padre White is well documented, for who don’t know who he was here is a couple of links.

Padre White is buried in our local cemetery with a simple head stone as he wanted, but there is now something there in his name and for what he stood for.

The opening was held before 11am then the rest of the service was then held in the new memorial.

Bonnie sitting patiently for me to come back, I was talking to a fellow who was doing some cooking.

Later in the afternoon there is to be a camp oven dinner then a ghost walk in the evening remembering some of the pioneers who are buried here.

Thank's very much for sharing that info on Padre White. An important piece of our history that I didn't know anything about.

Also looks like there must have been some good tucker in those ovens, looks great.

We have just come home from the Ghost walk, it was a very interesting night, with stories from Padre White himself to an Irish policeman who was killed doing his duty in 1896.

...

The ghost of Padre White telling us his life story.

...

Another ghost from the second world war.

We may not be a very old country, but we have lots of history.
