I know you've all been patiently waiting for my report about this years swap meet at Bendigo, well, it was a bit of a non event as far as camp ovens went.  Muzz and myself were at the gate 6.00 am Saturday morning and quickly covered most of the 2000 sellers but without success, the only oven we saw apart from the usual Chinese stuff was a mismatched Metters lid on a UMI base. I did get some nice cast iron oven doors as a bit of a consolation and an oval 2 gallon boiler and lid in VG condition for $20 so it wasn't a wasted trip altogether.
On the way home I called into an antique shop in northern Vic where I've always picked up a good oven or two but again, nothing, as the shop owner said, "Camp ovens are becoming very very scarce", he has seen few in the last twelve months and the ones that come up at clearing auctions bring big bucks, $400 + for a genuine 12" Furphy.
Looks like I'll have to go to Ballarat next year !

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd
