watching an old aussie movie (chips & jack) featuring a lot of two up.

brings back a few memories.

http://www.aussie-patriot.com/C_I/twoup/twoup_toss.jpg

I played a couple of times at Broken Hill down the lane and through the spaghetti place.

didn't throw, but placed a few bets and came out a loser.

first time I tossed was at the Adelaide casino. was a big throw, landing outside the ring and on to an Africans Afro head  Grin Grin Grin

played a couple of years ago back at the Hill in the Musician Club. just googled it and it may have stopped  Cry Cry

from that page

Quote:
"Any other gambling you have, it's you playing against a machine, where here it's face to face.

"It's almost a special relationship that you build with the other bloke when you're making the transaction; it's the looking him in the eye and the nod... it's just a special thing."

I couldn't agree more.

does any one have any two-up tales ???

I should have put this in "Australiana", maybe when the Boss logs on ?

looks like everyone has led a sheltered life  Tongue Tongue

I remember we used to play "Hooley Dooley" at High School. 3 or more players would flick up a 20cent piece and slap it on the back of their wrist. Odd coin out would win  Smiley Smiley Smiley

(was high stakes back in the days before Austudy payments  Wink)

Dropped into the Pooncarie pub a few years back on anzac day
(happened to be a sunday and on my way back to work after a big one in town) and there was a two up game goin under the street light at the back of the car park, they were all droppimg 50 and 100 notes so i went into the bar with me last tenner and had a schooner and grabbed two long necks for the road. bettter broke and happy than broke and thirsty.

on a more recent note a mate got married in burra on anzac day a few years back and we got a game goin came home well up that night

My Grandad always told the story of a trapper coming into town in Broken hill and doing about 4000 pound at the two up, a years wages at the end he pulled the last ten pound note out of his pocket and burnt it with a match and as he threw it on the floor he said in disgust "you won't get that one ya bastards"
