I was sure that i saw a thread here somewhere about "Self igniting heatbeads". I typed it into search and was surprised nothing came up. Undecided
Anyway, do they last as long as the conventional ones?
If so, are they worth the extra money?
Cheers Banjo

They are 'Self Lighting' not igniting that is why the search didn't come up.

I have used them in the past and from memory they last quite well but for the extra dollars I would say not worth it.  They do give off fumes that are annoying to me.  I do know of people using a few in the bottom of a heatbead chimney to get normal ones going quicker.

Cheers

Surely they would'nt pass Standards Australia regs.
I may have to do some tests of my own. ( Hopefuully when out of matches, firestarters or other combustibles). Huh

I used them for the 1st time in my new cobb cooker last night. Damn things wouldn't stay lit long enough to get properly alight so I ended up having to do a quick trip to the shop for some little lucifers.

End result was the most tender pork I've had in ages so... all was not lost, just late.  Smiley
