Well worth a visit for tent campers. We spent a week at Stringers during the 2011 Spring school holidays and have no complaints about the site at all.  I am looking forward to another visit when we can.

Caravans/camper trailers should go to 'Nanga Mill' just 1 km away where  fresh water Nanga Brook joins the saline Murray River, or the new 'Baden Powell' area with its fully bitumised road - when it's completed around Xmas 2012

Description:
Lane Poole Reserve covers some 55,000ha of Jarrah forest. The Murray River flows through the reserve and offers numerous recreational activities from swimming and canoeing to white-water rafting.  There are many interesting places to visit in the vicinity.

'Stringers' is a tents only family camping loop consisting of 6 sites capable of taking a few tents in each.
Touted as either 6 person or 8 person sites, only 2 "vehicles" per campsite are allowed.
For us this meant one car and one 'garden variety' trailer, as the trailer counted as a vehicle.

Location:
100km south of Perth near Dwellingup.

Directions:
Leave Dwellingup on the Pinjarra-Williams Road, turn right onto Nanga Rd and travel approx 7 kms until your reach the LPR entrance station.  Get a map of LPR from entry station and follow directions to Stringers.

Costs:
Per day DEC fees are ...
$7 adult [16yr and over],
$5 concession - companion card free,
$2 children [5yr-15yr],
Under 5yr free

No Park Entry fee applies at LPR

Facilities:  Minimal
Each site has a picnic table and a fire ring, some have swinging bbq plates and swinging pot rails.
Shared long drop toilets are close by.   There is a central skip bin for refuse.

BYO water. Potable water can be obtained from the Dwellingup visitors centre mains tap - gold coin donation.

Prepare to use gas for cooking during fire season.   1 November - 31st March [this may be extended into May if necessary]  'Heatbeads' are a solid fuel and are not allowed to be used during fire restrictions.

The river is only about 50m downhill with access via very wide steps designed for carrying kayaks/canoes up and down.  People from other campsites in the reserve, and day-use people often come to Stringers to launch their water craft.  Much fun can be had watching their antics, and many interesting discussions can be had with people from many different areas.

Concession rate applies to holders of these Australian issued cards
Seniors' Card, Age Pension, Disability Support, Disability Support (Blind), Carer Payment, Carer Allowance, Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA), Companion Card
The accompanying companion/carer of a Companion Card holder is entitled to free entry when entering an attraction or venue where 'per person' fees apply. This also applies to camping fees.

The judge's decision is final... unless the 3rd umpire is called for... or a facebook campaign goes viral !!!
