My 'to-do' list ... Revisit Baden Powell when the new site is completed later this year [2012].
Bitumen all the way, specifically being developed with Larger caravans and camper trailers in mind.

The old site where we went recently will be redeveloped as an expansion of the day use area.
http://tinyurl.com/7lgq42a  -  photos of old site area and river etc

Part of Lane Poole Reserve, managed by DEC.
No park entry fee at this time.
Camping fees are  $7per night/persons over 16, $5 concession,
$2 child 5-15, under 5 free, companion card free

Opinion   Smiley
We like this part of the river for water activities, walk trails and ease of access.  It is only about 2kms from the entry station, which is 7km from Dwellingup.    As far as camping goes, we will refrain from comment until we can check out the new area... all we've seen so far is bitumen going up the slope and round a bend.

The males doing the 'T' part of HTD - what you can see in the background will become 'day use only'.
Photo 2
Reasonably level areas with plenty of shade

The judge's decision is final... unless the 3rd umpire is called for... or a facebook campaign goes viral !!!

We haven't been to the new set up yet... but sounds ideal for the Nov-May period when fire bans are in place.

No campfires are permitted at Baden Powell Campground at any time.
  ---- BOOOOOO !!!!

2013 sees the opening of the New Baden Powel campground, touted as ideal for families.
DEC haven't posted any photos of the new campground yet.

It features 42 camp sites
37 sites for tents (2 wheelchair accessible)
5 caravan or camper trailer sites

3 camp kitchens (1 wheelchair accessible) equipped with:
        Food preparation surfaces
        Dining tables
        Washing-up sinks
        Gas barbeques

*WA camp kitchens usually do not feature fridges/microwaves/power outlets as some Easterners may expect

Drinking water

8 toilets (1 wheelchair accessible)

Generators are permitted but, along with music, must be switched off between 9pm and 8am in consideration of other campers.

Dogs are permitted. They must be on a leash at all times.

FEES - per person, per night
Adult (16 years and older)  $9
Concession*  $6
Child (6-15 years)  $2
Infant (5 years and under)  No Fee

*Eligibility for concession fee is defined in the ‘more info section’ on DEC Campgrounds website

There is no entry fee for Lane Poole Reserve

Advance booking is essential. Bookings can be made between 2 days and 10 months in advance. Online only.
Anybody occupying a camp site without proof of booking will be instructed to vacate the camp site.

Camp sites are not standard sizes, they are suitable for either tent camping or small caravans and camper trailers

Tent sites feature:
Vehicle parking adjacent to a tent area for each site. Four sites have two tent areas and one parking area.
Picnic table
Limited separate shared parking for large vehicles is available.

Caravan or camper trailer sites feature an adjacent tent area.
Vehicles must be within the site booked. Campers using these sites must leave the shared large vehicle parking area free for the use of those using the tent sites.

Limits apply to the number of campers and vehicles for each site
Facilities for larger caravans and camper trailers are available at Nanga Mill campground, also in Lane Poole Reserve.
