After feeding the Chief a bit of pork crackling, I finally got my camp kitchen spruced up!
An old cupboard was rescued from a council hardwaste area. 1" steel frame with an old plywood top.
After replacing the plywood with mesh, I have used this stand for quite a while for heatbead cooking but found myself pining for a solid surface and some new duco
We used a grinder to cut back the old paint and tidied up some rough welds, then applied 1 spraycan of Killrust in 'Wilderness' colour to the frame.
We used a spray adhesive to bond some 3mm melemime to 0.5mm aluminium sheet and used this for shelves top and bottom.
The shelves are held in place with 20x20mm aluminium angle and a few dome head screws.
1" Steel Frame $0 (hardwaste)
Paint $15,
900x900 melamime $10,
900x900 Aluminium sheet $35,
3m Aluminium angle $15,
530x530mm stainless steel plate $5 (from a salvage yard)
An old electric frypan $0 (hardwaste)
Spray adhesive $0 (friends left over can)
Total Cost - $80
The reno came up so bloomin nice I think I will feed the man another roast mid-week, just to say
THANKS DARLING

Explaining the photo details...
SS Plate lets me use the JCOM and gas ring burner on the top shelf.
Frypan lets me use
heatbeads on the top shelf [thanks for the tip Derek]
The lower legs slide up and down inside the outer legs so I can get it level no matter how uneven the ground is.
Replacing the mesh with a solid aluminium top gives me more options when it comes to preparing food prior to cooking. It is also much easier to wipe clean than steel mesh.
