Hi all, just bought a 14 inch at local markets today for 25 bucks.
On the side there is a short word(cant make it out)above what I think maybe Glasgow.
Handle, ears, legs look identical to my Albion.
Any ideas on the maker and vintage anybody?
Cleaned it up a bit and have it soaking in a citric acid bath . (works on rusty rabbit traps) Cheers Dave

Dave, a bargain at $25, it is an ETNA, some of them have the name under the lid others on the side of the pot. No prize for guessing it was made in Glasgow Scotland and a long time ago, I can't tell you much more.
I reckon a lot of Australian made ovens were copies of those very old ones from the UK. Clean it up and treat it with the respect it deserves.

pd, thanks for the info.
Yep I will clean her up and season it as best I can,if it performs as well as the Albion I'll be more than happy.
Think I only paid 40 bucks for the 13 Albi some time back. Cheers (pity they dont have serial numbers so we can date them)

The Etna.
Derusted with the help of Mckenzies Citric acid.
My first attempt at seasoning, olive oil and into the electric oven at 250.C four times.
Didnt notice the crack in base or slightly warped lid when I bought it but what the hell !
(if the attach doesnt work will try again)

Dave, don't throw it out just because of a crack ! (LOL) I bought a 13" Metters awhile back and like you didn't discover a hairline crack in the wall until I had cleaned it up. Seasoned it and use it, found it doesn't leak.
If you're happy with citric acid stay there, me I prefer electrolysis and then a high speed wire brush on a drill.

Etna on a test run.
10 beads under 22 on top.
Sweet and juicy but not enough top heat to crisp.
Will try 6 more on top next time.
