G'day all,

Finally got the chance to hook up the CT and head off for a few days..... we decided to head to Chillagoe as the Mrs and kids had never been there, i had but it was about 25yrs ago..... anyway this is no highly detailed trip report but i do recommend heading up there for a look around. It's an easy drive from Cairns i think it took us about 4 hours or so with a stop in Mareeba for some morning smoko (and to buy a shovel, forgot to pack one from home, and i reckon they are the handiest thing for camp oven cooking). We stayed at the Chillagoe Observatory & Eco Lodge http://www.coel.com.au/ and found this place to be a good little spot, we camped right down the back in an unpowered site and there were only a few others sharing the ground so there was plenty of space. We chose an unpowered site as this was our first trip away in the CT, and a good chance to see how everything worked living self sufficiently, and happy to say we are very pleased with living from the CT, without 240v or town water being supplied.

We did a tour of the Trezkin & Donna Caves, the Mrs & kids thought this was cool, checked out the old Smelter site, Balancing Rock, took a drive out to the Walsh River, showed the kids a few large blocks of Marble, went swimming a couple of times at the Bogey Hole (Chillagoe Creek / Weir), cooked up a Camp Oven roast dinner, seen hundreds of wallabies, mobs of goats, greats flocks of pink and grey galahs, and generally just kicked back and enjoyed playing about with the CT and enjoying being away with the tribe.

We did 2 nights at Chillagoe, then left and headed through to Mt Garnet, good drive all dirt and just taking it nice and easy enjoying the bush and it's only about a 120klm drive from memory, drove through Mt Garnet and pulled into the Innot Hot Springs camp ground for the last night, the heated pools and hot tubs there are great..

Anyway i've taken a few pics and i'll post ้m below...... hopefully?
Also i've posted this same yarn and pics on "Myswag" camper trailer forum as well, hope that's not breaking any rules.... just thought i'd share it here as well.

Yep, agree with everyone. Great setup and looks like you had a great weekend.

Is there anything about the camper you are not happy with or would change?

G'day Derek,

Mate i can honestly say i'm really impressed with the CT.... I've kept it pretty simple as far as techo bling goes, it's got a couple of deep cycle batteries and a couple of cig lighter outlets at the back, one for the Evakool and one for lights (presently just plug in fluro's, from the old camping gear). The trailer tows very well on bitumen and the rough, it's well built and the canvas work is spot on... the drifta set up is perfect for me, i love the slide out storage box, it's huge, and you can have the kitchen out and set up in 2 or 3 mins...... I just love the bloody thing, and best of all, i like it's all Aus made.

Cheers.
