While a lot of you will say, "Where's he been", I cooked a leg of lamb during the week in an oven bag for the first time. Turned out just right,  tender and moist right thru. I must remember to include oven bags in my travelling tucker box.

When I die I hope my missus doesn't sell my camp ovens  for what I told her I paid for them. pd

PD,
I have used them a few times in the home oven, Chicken turns out a treat in the oven bags as it retains heaps of moisture

Interesting this should come up now. My daughter had a birthday recently and it is becoming customary for Dad to have everyone over to cook a meal.

She fell ill the day before this one so we all went to her place. I took all the necessities for a roast lamb dinner. Was to be cooked in the home oven. For the first time I bought oven bags (Mainly because I didn't want to leave her with a dirty oven) and cooked a very large leg of lamb. It came out well, in fact overcooked but then again that is how I like my lamb.

And of course no mess in the oven Smiley

As Derek mentioned, oven bags are great in the home oven to keep the oven clean.
The retained moisture makes for a lovely roast without the mess of a roasting pan with lid to clean as well.

I tried one in the Hillbilly once...the bag touched the inside of the camp oven and stuck there until it burnt off. Months later, you could still see the mark it left on the side wall of the camp oven.

I haven't used them in any of the camp ovens since then - partly because I don't see a way of using the bag without it touching the side walls of the camp ovens - but mostly because I use the juices in the bottom of the camp oven to make the gravy so there is no advantage to using a bag.
