Currently staying at the Achorage Caravan Park at Iluka, NSW.

For a long time I have been advocating that with Heat Beads cooking is no problem at all.

Today I cooked a Date & Ginger Loaf and will let the photos tell the story

Heat Beads starting up in a small chimney. Note I am using my old thirty year old Bedourie Camp Oven

...

Placing Heat Beads under and on the camp oven. While not in the photo I used a trivet under the camp oven so as not to starve them of oxygen

...

Looking pretty good with that. I used 8 Heat Beads on the bottom and 14 on top

...

In the van mixing up the batter

...

Into a small loaf tin

...

The loaf tin goes into the camp oven and lid on top

...

Well it won't cook any faster standing there watching it  Grin

...

Out of the oven at 40 minutes.  Bit too much heat on top. I didn't take into consideration the camp oven sitting in the hot sun. Three less Heat beads would have been better.

...

Cooling off before removing from the tin

...

How's that for camp oven tucker

...

Thanks Maggie for being my photographer  Kiss

Aart

I got an email this morning from the developer looking after our subdivision at home. At the final stage now where I have to plant a 100 odd trees and build a couple of fences so really should think about going home.

Instead booked into the park for an extra week.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Some days I feel guilty at being so relaxed  Huh

Cheers
