Years ago it was thought that there were many different types of Magpie but the experts now agree that the title Australian Magpie be afforded to all of them and that the colour variations be recognised as different races of the same bird. Currently there are seven recognised races and another one in New Guinea.

That pic of yours reminds me of Jonathon Livingstone.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Nice pic of the White Back Dave. They look fantastic when walking in snow as the white back really stands out. I saw a number of them a few years back in the snowy mountains.
