Hi all,

Is there a thermometer available that will measure the inside temp of a CO whilst it is pre heating.

I have a Cobb thermometer, but I am a bit nervous about leaving it in the CO in case it melts, I think it is designed for testing meat temp only.

What do others use for measuring the internal temp of the CO?

Regards

Hawker

I dont really get that technical, ears , eyes and fingers are my thermometer. i tend to touch the side of the oven with my fingers (very quickly on the outside), If you can touch it quicky without getting a burnt finger tip its about right for a roast,  Grin
The heat bead heat chart helps a lot as well.

Same as I use!
Keeps it simple!
Also use it a lot in the Weber Baby Q.

Interesting to see how that one goes. By the look of it, it may only give you the temp of the actual iron and not the interior.  Let us know.

Cheers

For baking  or roasting, plain flour, drop a bit in the base if it stays white its to cold, goes black to hot, goes brown perfect.

I have the Weber Digital Thermometer which I use with the BabyQ.  It doesnt have a very long wire to use it with a camp oven although it could with those that have the gap for putting a thermometer in and use heat beads.  You dial the kind of meat and end result you desire. With the BabyQ it sits on the outside tray.  Its great if you want to walk and talk while camping as you can take part of it with you and it will tell you when the meat has 4 seconds to go.  Prior to having this modern miracle I would just poke a skewer in and the colour of the juices would tell me how cooked the meat was or wasnt.   Cheesy
