Hi everybody, well I am back in Moonta after haqving spent the last three and a half weeks caravaning in Kingston on Murray, Mildura, Copi Hollow on the Menindee Lakes ( the latter place having to be the best kept secret in NSW - well at least as far as SA visitors are concerned) what a fabulous place.  Tried out my camp oven for the very first time - had a delicious roast leg of lamb and veg one night and then attempted a damper another night. Glorious food, the lamb just fell of the fork.  Didn't boil  anything dry (if you remember the catastrophe of the tomato soup)  I really loved cooking with it.  Had some campfires over which we had a bbq/grill plate and used a billy.  Can't wait to go again.  However, when we were in Copi Hollow we met a lovely couple who loved camp oven cooking and in fact had built a firepit in their back yard, so my husband is keen to try to build one himself.  Any recommendations will be well received.  Cheers to you all for now, Catsy Kiss Cool

Hard to beat a holiday on the Murray and topped of with Copi Hollow.

I have a nephew with an on-site van at copi. very envious of the photos that keep popping up from his family holidays there.

Glad the lamb melted in your mouth. well done  Smiley Smiley

Thanks to Smokeydk, Derek and Rutzgutz for your comments to my posting about returning from my trip.  Am looking forward to another trip.  Am planning to go back to Copi Hollow in January and take another couple with us  it really is a beautifully quiet (except for sounds of birds which is lovely to wake up to each morning, very picturesque place.  Appreciate your replies, cheers, Catsy

Ho Catsy, as requested.

2 photos of my firepit
Hope this gives some inspiration.

I haven't done any iron work around it yet.
Would like to build a swing away billy hanger etc.
This was built long before I joined COCIA.

Aart, this is a fabulous firepit, I like the entire setting.  Paved, and a wall for sitting on if needed I presume.  The greenery of the garden behind really sets it off.  Yes I know what you mean about building the swingaway billy holder, which could also hold a camp oven or a barbecue grill plate.
I am sure that you will come up with something very soon. I don't know whether you are aware of a place called Hillbilly Camping, have seen their pages on the internet and they have pictures of similar things which you may be able to adapt.  That information is probably like taking to Newcastle eh ?  Clever man. Such a nice area neeeeeds to be used.   Thank you again for  supplying this info.  Regards Catsy
