Following a discussion on another forum about the improvement in powdered eggs and as we will be travelling in our van for 7 months this year, I have bought some as a backup for when fresh eggs are not available in some of the remote places we will travel.

Does anyone here make use of powdered eggs and, if so, what tips/uses can you share?

One hundred and eleven egg recipes and not one of them with powdered egg http://www.aussiecampovenforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1210656321 ; Grin Grin Grin Grin

Like a lot of things new technology has made it easy for us.  I guess they must be ok.

How does the price compare to fresh eggs?????

I can't remember now how much they cost but I do recall thinking they were about the same price as a dozen eggs (which is the equivalent to the powdered stuff). I do buy free range though so not the cheapest. It looks like no one is using it so will just have to try it. Will report back when I do.

I have thought about using powdered egg in the past but have only seen the 'powdered egg white', not the whole egg version.

(google)
Farm Pride - 1 Tablespoon of powdered whole egg to 3 Tablespoons of water to reconstitute 1 egg
(end google)

- so you get the equivalent of one whisked/beaten egg to use in your recipe.

But do you end up with yellow water... or the thicker gluggy consistency of a beaten egg?
Will be very interested in your experiment results swisslulu.   Smiley

powdered egg are exactly the same as any egg- thats what they are but you cannot boil them.
they are great in any cooking or scrambled - cannot fry them but you will not believe the light crepes they make.

regards
